Co-op Month Wrap-up

As we kick off November and Co-op Month comes to an end, we have a lot to look back on. First off, we want to thank the 5 new Owners who joined in October. Welcome!

November New Owners Incentive

Everyone who joins the Co-op November 1st – 24th will be automatically entered into a raffle to win one delivery of delicious baked goods from The Compulsive Baker. The winner will receive an array of delicious breads and sweet baked goods (to be delivered the morning of December 3rd).

Outreach Coordinator Search

We are searching for our first hire, an Outreach Coordinator! This will be a key role for our organization, leading the outreach team to build membership and working with the board of directors. This person should be passionate about local food and building community. To read more about the position and for application information, please visit our website

Owners Meeting

We held our 3rd Annual Owners meeting, where we announced our milestone of moving from Stage 2A Feasibility to Stage 2B Planning!  This caps off the board’s work on evaluating market demand, financial feasibility, and organizational capacity, and the decision that we will start spending Owner equity as of November 13th, 2016. We discussed the Food Coop Initiative‘s 4 Cornerstones in 3 Stages development model we follow as a start-up food co-op, as well as the Sources & Uses budget and how these helped us evaluate our development status.

Both the By-Law changes & board of directors elections were unanimously approved as part of the Owners meeting, where we welcomed new Directors Rae Webb and Lisa Vickers, and Kelly Nadeau was elected to her new 3-year term.

The presentation, summary, and questions & answers from the meeting have been posted on our website:  Please email any questions to

Board Updates

Rae & Lisa have gone through New Director Onboarding training and will be attending Cooperative Board Leadership 101 training this January. Board Elections were also held, electing Siobain Mitchell as President, Craig Force as Vice President, Jason Sobel as Treasurer and Heather Sullivan as Clerk. Former Directors Nichole Felix & Kim Giovacco have stepped down from the board as of the Owners meeting, and we wish them the best in their future endeavors.

Food for Change Screening

We also held  a screening of Food for Change, where special guest director & producer Steve Alves gave a short talk after the film. This is a fantastic documentary about the history of Co-ops in America.  If you missed the film or would like to watch it again, it is available on demand for rental:
